Asiatic Lily, Camden Maine Bed and Breakfast
  1. June is bustin’ out all over!

Winters can be long in Maine and sometimes feel even longer.  Being lovers of the outdoors we stay active throughout the winter, however just seeing our lawn when the snow has finally vanished is a welcome long awaited craved sight and a glorious sign for more color to come.

By the time June arrives so do particular flowers at our Inn.  Predominantly featured are the French Lilacs, Lupines, German Iris, Rhododendrons and of course our beloved poppies. I love how the morning dew attaches itself to the fuzzy poppy heads and the way each droplet glistens from the morning sun. My husband enjoys watching and listening to the bumblebees gathering up  pollen from the flowers on our large and very old Rhododendrons and always remarks on their number. They seem so grateful of our choice in plantings.

We would be remiss if we did not mention the endless fields and roadside ditches filled with colorful lupines in bloom that seem to go on infinitely. We have sent countless guests home with lupine seeds from our gardens for those who remarked on there beauty and showed an interest in starting their own.

June is a wonderful time of year that needs to be taken more advantage of. The full swing of the summer season has yet to arrive and one can easily pick their restaurant of choice and take advantage of the “quieter” time of the season.
